Qatar Airways Reveals Aggressive Expansion Plans and 16 Exciting New Destinations on the Opening Day

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, hits back at his neighbours for the illegal blockade on Qatar at ITB opening day press conference

Brand-new exhibition stand unveiled at a ceremony attended by VIP guests and media, including a full-size display of the airline's patented, award-winning Business Class seat, 'Qsuite'

Qatar Airways once again stole the limelight on the opening day of ITB Berlin, the world's largest international travel fair, as Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, announced the airline's aggressive expansion plans and 16 new destinations for 2018 - 2019 at a full press conference.

On the same day, the award-winning airline also unveiled a brand new interactive exhibition stand. Hosted by H.E. Mr. Al Baker, the unveiling was attended by the Qatari Ambassador to Germany, His Excellency Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, as well as a host of international media and VIPs.

At the Qatar Airways press conference, attended by almost 200 members of the international media, H.E. Mr. Al Baker announced a raft of forthcoming global destinations for the airline in line with its expedited expansion plans, including the announcement that Qatar Airways will be the first Gulf carrier to begin direct service to Luxembourg. Other exciting new destinations to be launched by the airline include London Gatwick, United Kingdom; Cardiff, United Kingdom; Lisbon, Portugal; Tallinn, Estonia; Valletta, Malta; Cebu and Davao, Philippines; Langkawi, Malaysia; Da Nang, Vietnam; Bodrum, Antalya and Hatay, Turkey; Mykonos and Thessaloniki, Greece; and Málaga, Spain.

In addition, services to Warsaw, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Prague and Kyiv will increase to a double daily frequency, while services to Madrid, Barcelona and the Maldives will increase to triple daily.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, H.E. Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: "Qatar Airways is tremendously excited to announce further expansion with a significant number of new destinations to be added to our extensive global network throughout 2018 and 2019. This is a direct reflection of our commitment to connecting travellers across all corners of the world in a way that is meaningful and convenient to them. We are committed to continuing our ambitious growth strategy, in order to be able to provide our passengers with as much choice as possible and to take them anywhere in the world they wish to go."

His Excellency also spoke passionately about the blockade against Qatar: "During the blockade Qatar Airways continued its expansion; it continued its march ahead. We kept our country supplied and we became prouder as a nation. The blockade made my ruler an icon of defiance. Today, we are more independent than we were nine months ago. We are very defiant, and Qatar Airways will keep on expanding and keep on raising the flag for my country all over the globe."

The brand-new exhibition stand unveiled at the ceremony was designed with a concept of "augmented reality." The new stand features a full 360 digital screen wrapping around the entire stand showcasing the signature Qatar Airways five-star journey, while in-flight entertainment experiences allow guests to place themselves virtually into one of the airline's Business Class seats, complemented, of course, by a full-size display of the airline's patented, award-winning "First in Business Class" concept, 'Qsuite.'

Further developments for the upcoming year were discussed, including additions to the airline's sporting sponsorship portfolio. Qatar Airways is already the official sponsor of many top-level sporting events, including the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia,™ the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™ and the FIFA Club World Cup™, reflecting the values of sports as a means of bringing people together, something at the core of the airline's own brand message - Going Places Together.

Qatar Airways currently operates a modern fleet of more than 200 aircraft via its hub, Hamad International Airport (HIA). Just last month, the airline welcomed the Airbus A350-1000, for which it is the global launch customer.

Qatar Airways welcomes all guests at ITB this week to visit its new exhibition pavilion at the trade fair. This year reveals a completely redesigned exhibition stand in Hall 2.2, stand 207 and 208 from today until 11 March. Guests and visitors to ITB Berlin are invited to relax in the award-winning "First in Business" Qsuite, of which there is a full display at the exhibition.

الناقلة الوطنية لدولة قطر تكشف النقاب عن الجناح الجديد خلال حفل خاص بحضور كبار الزوّار وممثلين عن وسائل الإعلام، وتمكّن الزوّار من تجربة مقاعد كيو سويت الحائزة على عدة جوائز عالمية

حازت الخطوط الجوية القطرية مرة أخرى على استحسان الجميع خلال فعاليات اليوم الافتتاحي لمعرض آي تي بي برلين، أكبر معرض للسفر والسياحة في العالم. وأعلن سعادة السيد أكبر الباكر، الرئيس التنفيذي لمجموعة الخطوط الجوية القطرية، خلال مؤتمر صحفي عن المزيد من التوسعات ضمن شبكة الوجهات، حيث ستضيف القطرية 16 وجهة جديدة إلى شبكة وجهاتها المتنامية خلال عام 2018-2019.

وكشفت الناقلة القطرية خلال نفس اليوم عن جناحها التفاعلي الذي تم تصميمه خصيصاً للمشاركة في هذا المعرض، حيث استضاف سعادة السيد الباكر مراسم إزاحة الستار عن الجناح بحضور وسائل الإعلام الدولية وعدد من كبار الشخصيات، بما في ذلك سعادة الشيخ سعود بن عبدالرحمن آل ثاني، سفير دولة قطر لدى ألمانيا.

وأعلن سعادة السيد الباكر خلال المؤتمر الصحفي الذي شهد حضور ما يقارب 200 ممثل عن وسائل الإعلام العالمية عن إضافة العديد من الوجهات الجديدة إلى شبكة وجهات القطرية، بما في ذلك الإعلان عن أن القطرية ستصبح أول شركة طيران خليجية تسيّر رحلات مباشرة إلى لوكسمبورغ. كما أعلن سعادة السيد الباكر تدشين رحلات القطرية إلى كل من: غاتويك في مدينة لندن و كارديف بالمملكة المتحدة، ولشبونة في البرتغال، وتالين في أستونيا، وفاليتا في مالطا، و سيبو ودافاو في الفلبين، ولنكاوي في ماليزيا، و دا نانغ في فيتنام، وبودروم وأنطاليا وهاتاي في تركيا، وميكونوس وثيسالونيكي في اليونان، وملقة في أسبانيا.

كما ستزيد القطرية من عدد رحلاتها إلى كل من وارسو و هانوي و هو تشي منه وبراغ وكييف إلى رحلتين يومياً، و إلى كل من برشلونة ومدريد وجزر المالديف إلى ثلاث رحلات يومياً.

وقال سعادة السيد الباكر: "يسعدنا في الخطوط الجوية القطرية الإعلان عن تدشين رحلاتنا إلى العديد من المدن الجديدة التي سنضيفها إلى شبكة وجهاتنا العالمية في 2018 و 2019. ويعكس هذا الأمر إلتزامنا بنقل المسافرين من مختلف أنحاء العالم إلى الوجهات التي يودون السفر إليها، مع توفير تجربة سفر مريحة ولا تضاهى لهم. وسوف تستمر القطرية بنهجها المتميز من حيث النمو وتعزيز الخدمات لجميع المسافرين، بهدف إتاحة المزيد من خيارات السفر المريحة لجميع الركاب إلى المزيد من الوجهات الرائعة في شتى أنحاء العالم".

كما تحدث سعادة السيد الباكر عن الحصار على دولة قطر، و قال: " خلال هذا الحصار، مضت الخطوط الجوية القطرية قدماً بخططها التوسعية. و لقد بذلنا كل جهد ممكن لدعم دولة قطر وأصبحنا أكثر فخراً ببلادنا، فيما جعل هذا الحصار أمير دولة قطر رمزاً لمواجهة التحديات وتجاوزها. وهذا الحصار لن يقف عائقاً أمام طموحنا، حيث سوف تستمر الخطوط الجوية القطرية بالتوسُّع، وسوف نستمر بدعم دولة قطر، وسوف نستمر برفع علم بلادي عالياً في جميع أنحاء العالم".

وتم تصميم جناح القطرية المشارك في المعرض بمفهوم "الواقع المعزز"، حيث يضم شاشات رقمية تغطي الجناح من كافة النواحي ليمكن الزوّار من تجربة الخدمات التي توفرها القطرية لجميع المسافرين على متن رحلاتها. كما يتيح الجناح الفرصة أمام الزوّار لتجربة مستويات استثنائية من الترفيه عبر تمكينهم من القيام بجولة داخل إحدى مقصورات درجة رجال الأعمال، بالإضافة إلى عرض لمجسم حقيقي لمقعد كيو سويت - تجربة الأولى في درجة رجال الأعمال.

وألقت القطرية الضوء أيضاً على الرعايات الرياضية التي ستقوم بها خلال الفترة القادمة. والخطوط الجوية القطرية هي شريك الطيران الرسمي للإتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم (FIFA) حتى عام 2022 حيث تشمل هذه الشراكة رعاية كأس العالم روسيا 2018 FIFA وكأس العالم قطر 2022 FIFA وكأس العالم للأندية FIFA. وتعكس هذه الرعايات إحدى قيم الرياضة الرامية إلى جمع الشعوب معاً، الأمر الذي يتجلى في شعار الخطوط الجوية القطرية "معاً إلى كل مكان".

وتسيّر الخطوط الجوية القطرية حالياً أكثر من 200 طائرة ضمن أسطول طائرات يعد من بين الأحدث في العالم عبر مقر عملياتها مطار حمد الدولي. ورحّبت القطرية الشهر الماضي بطائرة إيرباص A350-1000 لتصبح بذلك المشغل العالمي الأول لهذا الطراز.

وترحّب الخطوط الجوية القطرية بجميع الزوّار في جناحها الموجود في القاعة رقم 2.2، جناح 207 و 208 اعتباراً من اليوم وحتى يوم 11 مارس. وبإمكان جميع الزوّار الاسترخاء في مقاعد كيو سويت الشهيرة بـ"الأولى في درجة رجال الأعمال" خلال زيارتهم للمعرض.
