International pax to/from Australia up 9% to 3.4m in Dec-2015, capacity (Seats) up 7% to 4.3m
Australia's Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) reports (02-Mar-2016) the following international traffic highlights to/from Australia in Dec-2015:
- Passenger numbers: 3.4 million, +8.5% year-on-year;
- Available seats: 4.3 million, +6.7%;
- Flights: 16,664, +6.0%;
- Cargo volume: 89,724 tonnes, +9.6%;
- Aircraft movements: 16,901, +5.2%;

BITRE also reported LCCs AirAsia X, Cebu Pacific Air, Indonesia AirAsia, Indonesia AirAsia Extra, Jetstar, Jetstar Asia, and Scoot accounted for 17.9% of total international passenger traffic to/from Australia in Dec-2015. LCC share in Dec-2014 was 16.6%.
