International pax to/from Australia up 5% to 30.3m in FY2013, capacity (seats) also up 5%
Australia's Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) reports (16-Dec-2013) the following international traffic highlights to/from Australia for the 12 months ended Jun-2013:
- Passenger numbers: 30.3 million, +4.9% year-on-year;
- Available seats: 40.4 million, +4.8%;
- Flights: 161,019, +3.2%;
- Freight: 883,101 tonnes, +3.1%;
- Mail: 42,064 tonnes, -3.7%;
- Aircraft movements: 169,876, +3.3%;
- Share of operated seats by region:

- Southeast Asia: 39.4%;
- New Zealand: 20.3%;
- Northeast Asia: 16.7%;
- North America: 8.5%;
- Middle East: 7.7%;
- Oceania: 5.7%;
- Africa: 1.3%;
- South America: 0.5%;
- Top 10 countries by passenger movements:

- Qantas: 17.2%;
- Singapore Airlines: 9.1%;

Australia's BITRE reported (16-Dec-2013) compared to 2002-03, Qantas Airways' share has decreased by 15.5 percentage points, Singapore Airlines' share has decreased by 2.2 percentage points and Emirates' share has increased by 6.4 percentage points. [more - original PR]
