International pax to/from Australia up 6% in Sep-2013, capacity (seats) up 8%
Australia's Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) reports (28-Nov-2013) the following international traffic highlights to/from Australia in Sep-2013:
- Passenger numbers: 2.7 million, +5.8% year-on-year;
- Available seats: 3.5 million, +7.7%;
- Flights: 14,121, +8.0%;
- Cargo volume: 73,100 tonnes, +1.2%;
- Aircraft movements: 14,809, +6.2%;

- Qantas: 16.9%, -0.6 ppt;
- Emirates: 9.6%, +1.1 ppts;
- Singapore Airlines: 8.8%, -0.6 ppt;
- Virgin Australia: 8.1%, -0.3 ppt;
- Jetstar: 7.4%, -0.9 ppt;
- Air New Zealand: 7.4%, -0.4 ppt;
- Cathay Pacific: 4.4%, -0.1 ppt;
- Malaysia Airlines: 4.2%, +0.7 ppt;
- AirAsia X: 3.3%, +0.5 ppt;
- Thai Airways: 3.2%, -0.5 ppt;
- Share of cargo carried:

- Singapore Airlines: 17.1%, +1.5 ppts;
- Qantas: 14.1%, -2.1 ppts;

BITRE also reported LCCs AirAsia X, Indonesia AirAsia, Jetstar, Jetstar Asia, Tigerair and Scoot accounted for 14.2% of total international passenger traffic to/from Australia in Sep-2013. The LCC share in Sep-2012 was also 14.2%. [more - original PR]
