Pratt & Whitney files patent-infringement complaints against Rolls-Royce in US and UK

Pratt & Whitney announced it has it filed patent-infringement complaints against Rolls-Royce at the US International Trade Commission and the UK High Court, related to the design of aircraft engine fan blades (Reuters, 05-Nov-2010). The complaint covers Trent 900 and Trent 1000 engines, used in the A380 and B787, respectively. Pratt & Whitney is reportedly seeking to stop shipments of Rolls-Royce engines for the B787. The aircraft of B787 launch customer, All Nippon Airways, will be powered by Rolls-Royce engines.
