A unit of US-based Raytheon Technologies, Pratt & Whitney is one of the world’s oldest and largest commercial aircraft and power system manufacturers. Founded as a dedicated aviation engine manufacturer in 1925, the company has since delivered more than 500,000 aircraft engines to more than 11,000 customers. Based in Hartford, Connecticut, P&W offers a range of commercial, military and general aviation engines, as well as solid fuel propulsion systems and power systems. The company’s engines are found in more than 30% of all commercial aircraft, with over 16,000 in service. It manufactures or collaborates on six major commercial aircraft engines and four military engines.

Canadian unit, Pratt & Whitney Canada, is based near Montreal and focuses on smaller commercial and general aviation engines. The company offers ten different engine families.

Pratt & Whitney is a major partner in international large commercial engine joint ventures. It participates in both International Aero Engines (along with Rolls-Royce, MTU Aero Engines and Japanese Aero Engines Corporation) and Engine Alliance (a 50:50 JV with General Electric).
