Melbourne Airport announces Jan-2011 traffic up 10.7%

Australia's Melbourne Tullamarine Airport announced the following traffic highlights in Jan-2011:

• Passenger numbers: 2,474,230, +10.7%;
• Domestic: 1,843,251, +8.0%;
• International: 630,979, +18.0%.

The airport stated that Jan-2011 was the first time the airport has handled over 600,000 international passengers in a calendar month. Passenger traffic from China increased 33%, Singapore by 25%, Malaysia by 22%, New Zealand by 20%, India by 16 %, US and the UK both up 11%.
