IBEX Airlines targeting USD5.1m operating profit in FY2016, retiring CRJ100/200s

IBEX Airlines released (15-Apr-2014) its FY2014-FY2016 medium-term strategy on 15-Apr-2014, with the aim of becoming the "top leader of regional airlines" in Japan. Under the plan, IBEX plans to seek more opportunities from its two focus cities, Sendai and Osaka Itami. The carrier also outlined the following outlook:

  • Total revenue: Annual revenue of JPY13,900 million (USD141.8 million) by FY2016;
  • Operating profit: JPY500 million (USD5.1 million) by FY2016;
  • Zero accident operation;
  • 98.5% flight completion rate;
  • 95% on-time performance rate;
  • Cost per ASK: JPY12 (USD 12.2 cents);
  • Fleet:
    • Introduce two additional Bombardier CRJ700NGs, one each in FY2015 and FY2016, while its two 50-seat CRJ100LRs will be phased out, one in FY2014 and the other in FY2015. The two CRJ-200ERs will also be retired by FY2016, standardising its fleet on the 70-seat CRJ700NG.[more - original PR - Japanese]
