Bombardier is a global transportation company, headquartered in Montréal, Canada. It is active in the manufacture of products, systems and the provision of services for the aviation (commercial and business jets) and rail transportation sectors. The division responsible for the company's aircraft manufacturing and related services is Bombardier Aviation, formerly Bombardier Aerospace. The division ranks as the world’s third largest civil aircraft manufacturer. Its aircraft range includes:
- Business aircraft - Learjet, Challenger and Global aircraft families;
- Amphibious aircraft - Bombardier 415 and Bombardier 415 MP aircraft;
- Jet travel solutions - Flexjet;
- Specialised aircraft solutions - Bombardier aircraft modified for special missions;
- Aircraft services and training - aircraft parts, maintenance, comprehensive training, technical support and publications, and online services.
In Oct-2017, Airbus acquired a 50.01% stake in the C Series Aircraft Limited Partnership, the manufacturer and seller of single-aisle Bombardier aircraft. Bombardier completed its strategic exit from the commercial aviation programme on 14-Feb-2020, transferring its remaining interest in Airbus Canada Limited Partnership (Airbus Canada) to Airbus SE and the Government of Québec.
Bombardier confirmed the conclusion of its Q Series aircraft programme assets to De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited for gross proceeds of CAD300 million (USD223 million) and net proceeds of CAD250 million (USD186 million) on 03-Jun-2019.
On 30-Oct-2020, Spirit AeroSystems Holdings completed the acquisition of Bombardier's aerostructures activities and aftermarket services operations in Belfast and Casablanca, and aerostructures maintenance, repair and overhaul facility in Dallas in exchange for cash consideration of USD275 million.
Bombardier completed the sale of CRJ Series programme to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) on 01-Jun-2020 for a cash consideration of approximately USD550 million.
