Contribute to the "dual goals"

Bamboo Airways has been officially designated to operate charter flights to the US since May 2021. The airline has acquired slots to conduct regular non-stop flights connecting Ho Chi Minh City to San Francisco and Los Angeles starting September 1, becoming the first Vietnamese carrier to secure US non-stop flight slots.

At San Francisco International Airport, the daily flights connecting Ho Chi Minh city and the US are expected to land at 10 a.m (local time) and take off at 1 p.m (local time). Regarding legal procedures, Bamboo Airways has been granted a license by the US Department of Transport to operate non-stop charter flights to the US. The airline is urgently setting up a representative office in the US and cooperating with Los Angeles and San Francisco International Airports to ensure the operation.

Additionally, Bamboo Airways is working with the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the US Customs and Border Protection Department, and relevant authorities to complete the procedures.

In the context of a complicated pandemic, the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam positively evaluates Bamboo Airways' operation of charter flights to the US. This will significantly contribute to the repatriation of Vietnamese citizens and the entry into Vietnam of foreign diplomats, investors, experts, high-tech workers, and relatives; bringing the airline closer to its "dual goals" which are to prevent the pandemic and simultaneously develop the economy.

"In addition, this serves as a stepping stone for Bamboo Airways to conduct regular flights to the US in the future and promote the economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and the US," said the leader of the Ministry of Transport.
