Jet Airways in negotiations with SkyTeam airlines for trans-Atlantic JV

Jet Airways is reportedly in discussions with SkyTeam alliance members Air France-KLM, Alitalia and Delta Air Lines over plans for the carrier to join their trans-Atlantic JV. The carriers are reportedly in negotiations with Jet Airways over its entry into their JV agreement in 2012, ahead of its proposed integration into the broader SkyTeam alliance. Shares in Jet Airways were down 1.8% on Thursday.

The venture between the four airlines would include codesharing, cooperation on FFP programmes as well as cost and revenue sharing on trans-Atlantic routes. Air France-KLM is also reportedly negotiating for Jet Airways to transfer its European hub to Amsterdam from Brussels with the intention to let Jet take over flight operations from KLM on "one specific route" between Amsterdam and a US destination. Transferring the hub to Amsterdam would reportedly result in all the contracts Jet Airways has with American Airlines being transferred to KLM. An agreement expected to be signed within the next two months, provided it is approved by Indian authorities.

      • Korea: 87,483, -19.6%;
      • China: 84,382, -24.7%;
      • Europe: 47,490, -25.1%;
      • Oceania: 15,591, -43.5%;
      • Guam: 14,564, -68.1%.
  • Passenger load factor:
    • Domestic: 57.7%;
    • International: 70.2%;
  • Cargo volume:
    • Domestic: 27,625 tonnes, -13.2%;
    • International: 18,639 tonnes, -57%.

Hainan Airlines reported the following passenger traffic highlights in Feb-2011:

  • Passenger numbers: 1.7 million, +4.9% year-on-year;
  • Passenger load factor: 84.6%, +3.0 ppts;
  • Cargo volume: 14,462 tonnes, -18.4%.
