Founded in 1951, Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. is a Japanese airline group based in Tokyo. The Group's main airline Japan Airlines is the Japanese flag carrier, and together with its subsidiaries, the group operates an extensive network of domestic and international air services from their main hubs at Tokyo Narita and Tokyo Haneda Airports.

On 01-Oct-2014 Japan Airlines announced that regional airline, JAL Express (JEX) was merged into the carrier as planned. All 41 of JAL Express’ aircraft will now operate directly under JAL. JAL announced plans for the integration on 26-Mar-2014. Established in 1997, JAL Express operated domestic and regional service to destinations across Japan and to China.
In May-2021, Japan Airlines Group (JAL) announced plans to strengthen the cooperation between Zipair, Spring Airlines Japan and Jetstar Japan to expand its network and increase revenue. JAL confirmed plans to make Spring Airlines Japan a consolidated subsidiary in Jun-2021. In Jul-2021, Japan Airlines (JAL) made an additional investment in Spring Airlines Japan to increase its stake in the LCC to two thirds, while Spring Airlines' stake will reduce from 56% to 30%.
