Jet Airways

Full Service Carrier
Ceased Operations on 17-Apr-2019

Headquartered in Mumbai, Jet Airways was one of the largest airlines in India with hubs at Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Amsterdam airports. The carrier operated an extensive domestic and regional network within the subcontinent, and previously operated services to Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and North America. Jet Airways closed reservations to international services, effective 12-Apr-2019. Subsequently, the carrier suspended all operations from 17-Apr-2019 citing financial issues.

JetLite was a subsidiary of Jet Airways, operating under the Jet Airways brand, using its own 'S2' code.

In Oct-2020, Jet Airways announced plans to resume operations by mid 2021. The carrier will first launch domestic operations with a single aircraft type, followed by international services during a second phase of the relaunch.

In Dec-2020, Jalan Kalrock Consortium announced it aims for Jet Airways to resume services in summer 2021, assuming "everything goes as per plan and the consortium receives the NCLT and regulatory approvals on time". The consortium stated: "As per the resolution plan, Jet Airways intends to operate all of its historic domestic slots in India and restart international operations". It added: "the Jet 2.0 hubs will remain Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru like before as the revival plan proposes to support tier 2 and tier 3 cities by creating sub-hubs in such cities". The relaunched Jet Airways will also operate dedicated freight services.

On 22-Jun-2021, Jalan Kalrock Consortium (JKC) announced the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) approved the consortium's resolution plan for the corporate insolvency resolution of Jet Airways. The consortium will now await the NCLT's written order and will inform stakeholders on the next steps to relaunch the airline. JKC added it will collaborate with India's Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation in the process.

In Sep-2021, Jalan Kalrock Consortium announced it aims to relaunch Jet Airways in 1Q2022, following a suspension of operations since Apr-2019. The airline will resume domestic services from 1Q2022, commencing with Delhi-Mumbai service, and aims to resume short to medium haul international services in 3Q2022 or 4Q2022.

In Oct-2021, Jet Airways advised plans to serve 14 destinations when it resumes domestic operations in 2022. It aims to resume international services within 12 months of resuming domestic services.

Jet Airways applied to India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to secure the reinstatement of its air operator's certificate (AOC) in late Jan-2022. Jet Airways hopes to resume operations in 1H2022.

India's DGCA awarded the airline its AOC on 20-May-2022 and the airline aims to resume services by Oct-2022.
