Ryanair to open Berlin Schönefeld base in Oct-2015 with 14 new routes
Ryanair announced (05-Mar-2015) plans to open its 73rd base at Berlin Schönefeld Airport on 27-Oct-2015, with five based Boeing 737-800 aircraft and 14 new routes - see Route Changes Table for more information:
- Berlin Schönefeld-Alicante: Three times weekly service to launch on 28-Oct-2015. airberlin also operates between Berlin and Alicante;
- Berlin Schönefeld-Athens: Daily service to launch on 25-Oct-2015. Aegean Airlines and easyJet also operate between Berlin and Athens;
- Berlin Schönefeld-Barcelona: Daily service to launch on 27-Oct-2015. easyJet, Germanwings, Norwegian and Vueling also operate between Berlin and Barcelona;
- Berlin Schönefeld-Bari: Three times weekly service to launch on 28-Oct-2015. airberlin also operates between Berlin and Bari;
- Berlin Schönefeld-Bologna: Daily service to launch on 27-Oct-2015. Germanwings also operates between Berlin and Bologna;
- Berlin Schönefeld-Bratislava: Daily service to launch on 27-Oct-2015. The carrier will be the route's only operator;
- Berlin Schönefeld-Brussels: Three times daily service to launch on 27-Oct-2015. Brussels Airlines and easyJet also operate between Berlin and Brussels;
- Berlin Schönefeld-Glasgow: Four times weekly service to launch on 28-Oct-2015. easyJet also operates between Berlin and Glasgow;
- Berlin Schönefeld-Malaga: Twice weekly service to launch on 31-Oct-2015. airberlin and easyJet also operate between Berlin and Malaga;
- Berlin Schönefeld-Palma de Mallorca: Three times weekly service to launch on 27-Oct-2015. airberlin, Condor, easyJet and Germanwings also operate between Berlin and Palma de Mallorca;
- Berlin Schönefeld-Riga: Daily service to launch on 27-Oct-2015. airBaltic also operates between Berlin and Riga;
- Berlin Schönefeld-Rome Ciampino: Twice daily service to launch on 27-Oct-2015. airberlin, Alitalia, easyJet, Germanwings and Vueling also operate between Berlin and Rome;
- Berlin Schönefeld-Venice Treviso: Three times weekly service to launch on 27-Oct-2015. airberlin, Alitalia and easyJet also operate between Berlin and Venice;
- Berlin Schönefeld-Valencia: Three times weekly service to launch on 27-Oct-2015. The carrier will be the route's only operator.
The carrier also plans to continue its seasonal summer services to Madrid and Palermo from Berlin Schönefeld in winter 2015/2016. In addition, Ryanair will increase Berlin Schönefeld-London Stansted frequency from twice to four times daily, Berlin Schönefeld-Milan Bergamo frequency from daily to twice daily and Berlin Schönefeld-Dublin frequency from daily to nine times weekly. Ryanair chief marketing officer Kenny Jacobs said: "Ryanair is pleased to announce a new Berlin base from October, our 73rd in total, with 5 based aircraft, an investment of $500m, with 16 new routes and 22 routes in total as part of our Berlin winter 2015 schedule, which will deliver 2.6m annual customers and support 2,600 local jobs."
