Established in Apr-1979, airberlin is a German full-service airline in transiition based at its primary hub of Berlin-Tegel Airport. The carrier is the second largest airline in Germany and one of Europe’s largest air service providers. airberlin previously operated as a hybrid low-cost carrier with Germany, Austria and Switzerland as its core markets. The airberlin Group, parent company of airberlin, is repositioning the carrier's development to a full service airline as part of a transformation programme with equity partner, Etihad Airways. The group is strengthening airberlin's long-haul operations by increasing its international network and the carrier now offers services to more than 130 destinations worldwide via intercontinental hubs at Berlin and Dusseldorf. Its fleet includes a mixture of narrow-body, turboprop and wide-body equipment, however, airberlin plans to rationalise its fleet with Etihad Airways. airberlin has been a member of the oneworld alliance since 2012.
