Germanwings is a German low cost airline and fully owned by Lufthansa. Based mainly at Cologne-Bonn Airport, with secondary hubs across the country, Germanwings operates a fleet of narrow-body Airbus aircraft supporting an extensive network of services throughout Germany and Europe, as well as Asia and the Americas. Deutsche Lufthansa AG announced plans to integrate Germanwings into the Eurowings Group in 2008. The carrier operated independently until in Oct-2015, when the programme commenced. Lufthansa completed the merger in early 2016, with Germanwings continuing to operate under the Eurowings Brand.
