US reaffirms Israel's Category 2 safety ranking

US Government reaffirmed the downgrade of Israel's air safety standards late in 2010 (Associated Press, 18-Jan-2011). Israel's air safety is ranked among the world's worst including Bangladesh, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti and Zimbabwe. The Category 2 ranking prevents Israeli airlines from expanding capacity in the US market or carrying codeshare passengers from US airlines.
