US FAA awards USD273m in grants to 184 airports

US FAA announced (28-Jul-2020) plans to award more than USD273 million in airport safety and infrastructure grants to 184 airports located in 41 US states and six territories, comprising the District of Columbia, American Samoa, Micronesia, the Marshall Islands, Palau and Puerto Rico. The total includes USD242 million from the FAA's Airport Improvement Program and USD31 million awarded under the CARES Act. The grants will finance critical infrastructure and safety projects, including purchasing aircraft rescue and firefighting equipment, constructing and repairing runways and taxiways, installing aircraft lighting and signage, conducting airport master plan studies and installing airport perimeter fencing.
