Owned and operated by Heathrow Airport Holdings Limited (previously BAA plc), London Heathrow Airport is a major international airport, the principal international gateway serving the city-region of London and Southeast England and is one of the world's busiest international airports. Heathrow is the UK's only international hub airport (depending on the definition of a hub).

Heathrow only has two runways. In 2017 it was given Parliamentary approval to build a third runway following a lengthy period of examination by the independent Airports Commission but the Covid pandemic and legal issues put that on the backburner. In 2025, support was given by the Labour Government for the process to recommence.
