Swissport, along with its UK based subsidiary, Servisair, is one of the world’s largest ground handling companies. Swissport International Ltd was owned by Ferrovial and PAI Partners, until HNA Group acquired Swissport from PAI, for a total transaction value of CHF2.7 billion (EUR2.6 billion) in Aug-2015. According to the purchase agreement, Swissport is a stand-alone business within HNA Group. It will continue to deliver ground handling and cargo services globally.

In Dec-2020, Swissport announced the completion of comprehensive financial restructuring. As part of a debt-for-equity swap, ownership of the company has been transferred from HNA Group to a group of financial investors led by Strategic Value Partners, Ares Management, TowerBrook Capital Partners, Cross Ocean Partners and King Street Capital Management.
