Before the 2006 opening of Suvarnabhumi Airport, Don Mueang was the principal airport serving Bangkok - ranking among the busiest airports in the world and a major aviation hub in Asia. Don Mueang continues to be an important military base, as well as a hub for domestic and international scheduled and charter services.
