Thai Airways confident Thai Tiger will launch in 1Q2011

Thai Airways President Piyasvasti Amranand stated he is confident Thai Tiger will be launched in 1Q2011 as planned (The Nation, 30-Dec-2010). The company is expected to be established by the end of the month, after which the registration process and search for a CEO and staff will commence. It is looking to operate a fleet of 10 aircraft. Tiger Airways has suggested renting some A320s to Thai Tiger. Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport is expected to be the carrier's hub, but this may move to Bangkok Don Mueang Airport. Thai Tiger is expected to run at a loss in its first year of operations.

Thai Airways: "I can't confirm when this new airline should start operating, but it should be as soon as the company is established and there are no unexpected issues. Thai Tiger will be the true Thai national low-cost airline and it will represent the story of a real low-cost carrier. Other players in the market are not real THAI firms," Piyasvasti Amranand, President. Source: The Nation, 30-Dec-2010.
