TAP Portugal deploys Embraer 190

TAP Portugal announced (23-May-2016) the carrier's first 106 seat Embraer E190 (tail CS-TPW) conducted its first operations on 23-May-2016, on Lisbon-Nice, Lisbon-Barcelona and Lisbon-Toulouse routes. The deployment of E 190s aligns with TAP's regional fleet renewal strategy, which includes plans to count with a fleet of nine E190s and eight ATR 72-600s. The E190s will gradually substitute Fokker 100 equipment. As previously reported by CAPA, the mentioned aircraft in addition to two A330s originate from Azul. TAP Portugal president Fernando Pinto stated "It is with great expectation that TAP launches operations with the new Embraer 190, providing a new comfort and modernity dimension that will surprise our passengers" adding: "The new E190 are aircraft extremely modern, with advanced technology and greater autonomy, that will allow us to launch new routes and reach new markets, ensuring a more reliable and flexible operation, with better saving and efficiency levels".
