South Korea’s domestic pax up 15% to 2.3m in Feb-2016, int’l pax up 16% to 5.8m

South Korea's Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs reported (26-Feb-2016) the following traffic highlights in Feb-2016:

  • Passenger numbers: 8.1 million, +15.3% year-on-year;
    • Domestic: 2.3 million, +14.6%;
    • Korean Air: 571,746, +6.0%;
    • Asiana: 436,980, +0.9%;
    • LCCs: 1.3 million, +24.9%;
      • Air Busan: 285,407, +24.0%;
      • Eastar Jet: 191,735, +32.3%;
      • Jeju Air: 338,352, +13.1%;
      • Jin Air: 246,959, +77.3%;
      • T'way: 211,287, +2.3%;
    • International: 5.8 million, +15.7%;
      • China: 1.5 million, +6.9%;
      • Japan: 1.3 million, +30.5%;
      • Southeast Asia: 2.2 million, +14.8%;
      • Americas: 343,768, +11.5%;
      • Europe: 303,554, +12.1%;
      • Oceania: 215,080, +21.8%;
      • Others: 79,312, +18.9%;
    • By carrier:
      • Korean Air: 1.6 million, +13.5%;
      • Asiana: 1.1 million, +7.1%
