Formerly known as Air Korea, Jin Air is a low-cost carrier based in Seoul, South Korea. The carrier, which was initially established by Korean Air, operates a network of services within South Korea and Asia out of its main base at Seoul Incheon International Airport, which Jeju and Busan serve as the carrier's secondary hubs. Jin Air operates as an affiliate and wholly owned low-cost subsidiary of Korean Air. Jin Air Co. Ltd had an initial public offering and market debut on 08-Dec-2017.
On 29-Sep-2021, Korean Air confirmed it received approval from Korea Development Bank (KDB) for its post merger integration (PMI) plan to acquire a controlling stake in Asiana Airlines for KRW1.8 trillion (USD1.5 billion) and subsequently merge the two airlines. The PMI includes provisions for gradually merging the two airlines into a single full service carrier under the Korean Air brand, integrating Korean Air's LCC subsidiary Jin Air with Asiana's LCC subsidiaries Air Seoul and Air Busan.
