Qantas sees pathway to reach 10% SAF uptake by 2030: Chief sustainability officer

Qantas Airways chief sustainability officer Andrew Parker, speaking at the IATA AGM, stated (04-Jun-2024) meeting sustainability targets is "non-negotiable", adding aviation and its "criticality" in Australia needs sustainable aviation fuel. Mr Parker said: "We are in no way there yet but for our 2030 interim targets, we can now see a pathway for us to reach 10% SAF uptake for Qantas by 2030". He added: "It's unusual for airlines to be advocating for mandates, bit we felt if we weren't doing some heavy lifting then the risk grows that we won't meet 2030 targets. We're worried about being left behind".
