Australia's Melbourne Tullamarine Airport reported (20-Jun-2014) total passenger numbers at the airport increased 5.0% year-on-year to 2.5 million in May-2014, including a 3.1% increase in domestic passengers to 1.9 million and an 11.3% increase in international passengers to 603,398. CEO Chris Woodruff said Japan continued to be a leading growth market for the airport, commenting: "The strong growth of the Japanese market in May shows that people are taking advantage of Jetstar's Melbourne-Japan service which commenced in late April. As the first direct Melbourne-Japan service in more than five years, passengers now have more choice and convenience."
