Mauritania Airways announces new destinations in Europe, Middle East and Africa

Mauritania Airways Managing Director, Moncef Bedi, stated the carrier plans to expand its network to the Middle East and Europe from 14-Apr-2010, with new routes in Africa from Jun-2010 (PANA, 12-Apr-2010). The new destinations include Brussels, Frankfurt, Geneva, Rome and Italy in Europe, Cairo (Egypt), Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) and Dubai (UAE) in the Middle East, and Praia (Cape Verde), Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), Douala (Cameroon), Brazzaville (Congo) and Tripoli (Libya) in Africa. The launch of the new routes coincides with the acquisition by the airline of a fourth B737-800. The carrier operates to destinations in West and Central Africa, handling 127,000 passengers in 2009.
