Lufthansa Group passenger numbers up in Dec-2011, load factor down

Lufthansa Group reports (11-Jan-2012) the following traffic highlights:

  • Dec-2011:
    • Passenger numbers: 7.8 million, +11.1% year-on-year;
      • Lufthansa Passenger Airlines: 4.9 million, +15.1%;
      • SWISS: 1.2 million, +5.8%;
      • Austrian Airlines: 792,000, +9.2%;
      • bmi: 347,000, -0.1%;
      • Germanwings: 508,000, +0.6%;
    • Passenger load factor: 75.5%, -1.1 ppts;
      • Lufthansa Passenger Airlines: 76%, -0.8 ppt;
      • SWISS: 78.1%, -2.2 ppts;
      • Austrian Airlines: 72.3%, -0.1 ppt;
      • bmi: 63.4%, -2.3 ppts;
      • Germanwings: 73.2%, +1.4 ppts;
  • 12 months ended Dec-2011:
    • Passenger numbers: 106.3 million, +7.5%;

Lufthansa Group: “In the full year 2011, sales for the Passenger Airline Group went up by 7.0 per cent including bmi and by 7.5 per cent excluding bmi.
