Lufthansa Group passenger numbers up 3.9% in Jan-2012, load factor stable
Lufthansa Group reports (09-Feb-2012) the following traffic highlights in Jan-2012:
- Passenger numbers: 7.0 million, +3.9% year-on-year;
- Lufthansa Passenger Airlines*: 5.1 million, +4%;
- SWISS**: 1.2 million, +1.4%;
- Austrian Airlines: 737,000, +7.1%;
- Passenger load factor: 73.7%, +0.4 ppt;
- Lufthansa Passenger Airlines: 74%, +0.6 ppt;
- SWISS: 75.4%, -0.8 ppt;

Lufthansa Group: "The airlines in the Passenger Airline Group (not including bmi) increased sales by 1.6% year-on-year in Jan-2012. Capacity growth was very modest at 1.1%, so that the load factor improved by 0.4 ppt to 73.7%. The slight capacity increase was achieved with 2.5% fewer flights, enabling further unit cost improvements. The pricing environment remained stable. All airlines registered modest growth. Sales at Lufthansa Passenger Airlines (including Germanwings) rose by 1.5%.
