Background ✨
Virgin Australia and Qatar Airways received ACCC approval for a five-year integrated alliance, enabling Virgin to operate 28 weekly Australia-Doha flights via a wet lease, with Sydney/Brisbane/Perth launching in Jun-2025 and Melbourne in Dec-20251. Virgin later launched daily Sydney-Doha on 12-Jun-2025 and planned Brisbane and Perth starts later that month2. Virgin suspended all Qatar Airways-operated Virgin services to Doha until at least 15-Jun-2026 due to Middle East security concerns3. Sydney Airport said Virgin planned a temporary increase to twice-daily Sydney-Doha from 07-Dec-2026 to 28-Mar-2027, operated by Qatar Airways4.
