IAG pax numbers up 9.3% in May-2012, cargo traffic down 3.2%

International Airlines Group (IAG) reports (07-Jun-2012) the following consolidated traffic highlights in May-2012:

• Passenger numbers: 4.8 million, +9.3% year-on-year;
  • Domestic (UK & Spain): 1.1 million, +20.4%;
  • Europe: 2.1 million, +5.1%;
  • North America: 779,000, +6.0%;
  • Latin America and Caribbean: 376,000, -0.3%;
  • Africa, Middle East and S.Asia: 382,000, +24%;
  • Asia Pacific: 120,000, +4.3%;
• Passenger load factor: 78.6%, +0.5 ppt;
  • Domestic (UK & Spain): 73.2%, -1.3 ppts;
  • Europe: 74.3%, -0.6 ppt;
  • North America: 85%, +1.1 ppts;
  • Latin America and Caribbean: 81.2%, +1.9 ppts;
  • Africa, Middle East and S.Asia: 72.2%, +2.2 ppts;
  • Asia Pacific: 71.9%, -3.5 ppts;

IAG: "Group premium traffic for the month of May grew by 1.7% compared to the previous year, with 7.5% growth in non-premium traffic. Trends for June appear stronger than those in May. Underlying market conditions at our London Heathrow hub continue to be firm, particularly in long haul premium.
