Dubai International Airport reports nine consecutive months of double-digit growth in Apr-2013

UAE's Dubai International Airport reported (27-May-2013) its ninth consecutive month of double-digit growth with an 18.7 year-on-year increase in passenger numbers to 5.4 million in Apr-2013, which was also the fifth consecutive month with more than five million passengers. Cargo volume increased 7.3% to 199,985 tonnes and aircraft movements increased 6.9% to 30,469. The top destinations at the airport included India with 672,557 passengers, followed by the UK (419,053) and Saudi Arabia (405,695) while Doha (207,146), London (201,587) and Jeddah (151,517) were the top destination cities. Commenting on the results, Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths said "it is very clear that our growth rate has picked up and that should continue at a similar pace into the next quarter and beyond."
