Brussels Airport pax down 2%, cargo down 7% in Jul-2013, pax just short of record

Belgium's Brussels Airport passenger numbers down 1% - traffic highlights for Jul-2013:

• Passenger numbers: 2.0 million, -1.1% year-on-year;
• Cargo volume: 37,198 tons, -6.8%;

The airport also reported (09-Aug-2013) a 6.8% year-on-year decline in transfer passengers, attributing the decline to Jet Airways' decision to discontinue several flights, which also resulted in declines in long-haul traffic. Short-haul traffic growth was mainly driven by LCCs. Brussels Airlines on the other hand reported a slight decline in short-haul traffic due to the rationalisation of its network.
