Belgium’s largest airline is flag carrier Brussels Airlines – a subsidiary of Lufthansa created through a merger between SN Brussels Airlines and Virgin Express – based in the main commercial hub Brussels Airport. ASL Airlines Belgium, formerly known as TNT Airways, is the main Belgian cargo carrier operating from Liege Airport. Publicly-owned Belgocontrol provides air navigation services to the civil aviation sector. The Belgian Civil Aviation Authority (also known as the Directorate-General Aviation) oversees, and is responsible for, a range of air traffic factors including licensing, EU affairs, airspace and airports, accidents and incidents.
