American, Delta and United CEOs request meeting with Secretary of State over Gulf competition
Partnership for Open & Fair Skies stated (02-Feb-2017) American Airlines CEO and chairman Doug Parker, Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian and United Airlines CEO Oscar Munoz, in a letter to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, highlighted the "massive subsidisation" of Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways and Emirates and the "significant harm" this competition is causing US carriers. The carriers requested an opportunity to discuss their concerns with Mr Tillerson, noting: "If left unchecked, we will continue to see the Gulf carriers expand in the US market, causing further harm to hard working Americans."
