Air Tahiti Nui proposes South Pacific travel bubble launch on 15-Jul-2020

Air Tahiti Nui proposed (18-Jun-2020) plans to launch South Pacific 'travel bubble' operations from 15-Jul-2020. Air Tahiti Nui GM Pacific Daniel Eggenberger said it is an opportunity which may be "Lost on Kiwis [New Zealanders] if a South Pacific bubble doesn't fly soon". Mr Eggenberger said "Now it's time to take the next step in COVID recovery", with the opening of "borders to French Polynesia and other South Pacific Islands who have either successfully extinguished COVID-19 or evaded the pandemic altogether", and urged New Zealand to commence opening borders to French Polynesia and other South Pacific island nations. Mr Eggenberger added: "Direct services ex Auckland to French Polynesia and the South Pacific offer a level of containment that together with strict protocols at entry and exit points should be sufficient to enable travel".
