Air Mauritius orders six A350-900s

Air Mauritius signed (16-Jul-2014) a MoU to acquire four A350-900 aircraft and a LoI with AerCap Holdings to lease an additional two A350-900s. The carrier obtained options to order up to three additional A350s between 2023 and 2025. The aircraft will be powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines and are intended to replace the carrier's A340-300 aircraft. The airline plans to deploy the aircraft on Asia, Australia and Europe routes. The leased aircraft will be delivered in 2017, two purchased aircraft will be delivered in 2019 and the remaining two will be delivered in 2020. Air Mauritius CEO Andries Viljoen said the aircraft will be key to modernising the carrier's fleet while reducing its operational costs and environmental footprint. The A350 acquisition forms the fifth step of the airline's seven step fleet recovery and sustainability plan.
