About
Mather Airport serves the Californian state capital of Sacramento and is located approximately 19 kilometres east of the city. The airport is situated on the site of a former Air Force Base which closed in 1993. Today, the airport primarily handles general aviation aircraft traffic, while Sacramento International Airport handles most of the city's scheduled commercial services. The airport is owned and operated by Sacramento County.
