General Mariano Escobedo International Airport serves the northern Mexican city of Monterrey, capital of Nuevo León state and centre of the third-largest mentropolitan area in the country. Monterrey is one of the richest and most developed cities in Mexico, with the highest per capita income in the nation and home to many Mexican and foreign corporations. The airport is dominated by domsetic traffic, which accounts for a large majority of operations, while international traffic is mostly comprised of cross-border services to the southern US. Aeromexico Connect, VivaAerobus and Magnicharters operate hubs at the airport, and Aeromexico operates a secondary hub at Escobedo. The airport is one of 13 operated by OMA Grupo Aeroportuario Centro Norte.
