ICAO: n/a

About

AirAsia Sri Lanka was a proposed LCC joint venture by Malaysian based airline group, AirAsia. The startup was part of an investment proposal by AirAsia to assist in the development of Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport and improve bilateral relations. AirAsia Sri Lanka was expected to operate with Sri Lankan air operator's certificate and facilitate tourism activity in the country. The airline was expected to operate with a fleet of 24 aircraft, over a five-year period. AirAsia planned to seek a local partner to establish the carrier, subject to approval. A prospective launch date has not been specified.

In 2019, AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes announced AirAsia will not open any more new airlines for the next three years, citing that the group will focus on consolidating existing operations.
