Thai Airways' ultra-long haul experiment fails
Thai Airways’ five-year plan to expand its long-haul
network has hit a major hurdle, with ongoing losses from non-stop services to
the US likely to result in the dumping of its A340-500 fleet. Thai has reportedly
lost USD150 million on the New York route alone since 2005, with weak demand
compounded by high fuel prices.
