Prague Airport privatisation deferred, or cancelled?
On 01-Dec-2009, the Czech Lower House of Parliament approved a Bill stipulating Prague Airport must be owned either by the State or by a company owned by the State, thereby blocking the Czech Government's longstanding but wilting plans to sell the airport. The original intention had been to sell the state's 100% stake by the end of 2009. However, for the law to be finalised, it must be signed by the Czech President, Vaclav Klaus, who is known for his propensity to keep people waiting, as he did the European Union over the Lisbon Treaty.
