Iran: a market with enormous aviation potential

Iran is the second largest economy in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region after Saudi Arabia, having an estimated gross domestic product (GDP) of USD404 billion in 2014, according to the World Bank. With a population of almost 79 million, Iran is similar in size to Turkey - the latter having a GDP of USD806 million in the same period - but with an economy characterised by a large energy sector.
