Region: Middle East

The vast majority of international flights into the Islamic Republic of Iran arrive in Tehran. Tehran has two international airports, the old Mehrabad International Airport and new Imam Khomeini International Airport. All international flights except those to/from Medina, Jeddah and Damascus fly into IKA. Iran Air is the national government-owned airline. Iran Air is the largest among a growing roster of domestic airlines and boasts an extensive network of flights, covering most provincial capitals. Other airlines include Iran Aseman, Mahan Air – which fly the most routes - while Caspian Airlines, Kish Air and Taban Air are smaller carriers.

The Iran Civil Aviation Organisation is the regulatory authority responsible for the Iranian aviation industry, while also providing air navigation services.
