Wizz Air to open London base in Jun-2017
Wizz Air announced (16-Feb-2017) plans to open its 28th base at London Luton Airport with one new A320 aircraft on 18-Jun-2017. London Luton will be the carrier's first UK base and increase the number of routes served from the airport to 42. The carrier plans the following launches and frequency increases - see Route Changes Table for more information:
- London Luton-Kutaisi: Twice weekly service, from 18-Jun-2017;
- London Luton-Tel Aviv: Four times weekly service, from 24-Jun-2017;
- London Luton-Pristina: Twice weekly service, from 24-Jun-2017;
- London Luton-Iasi: Frequency to increase from five times weekly to daily;
- London Luton-Suceava: Frequency to increase from four to five times weekly;
- London Luton-Constanta: Frequency to increase from two to four times weekly.
Wizz Air CEO József Váradi said: "Today's announcement once again underlines Wizz Air's commitment to the UK. Our first Wizz Air flight from the UK took off from London Luton in 2004 and since then, we have carried over 35 million passengers on our low-fare UK routes." [more - original PR]
