Wizz Air Holding previously decided to suspend all locally based Wizz Air Abu Dhabi operations from 01-Sep-2025 and exit the joint venture, citing engine reliability constraints in hot and harsh conditions, repeated airspace closures and regulatory barriers, while refocusing on core European markets, according to CEO József Váradi.1 Wizz Air chief commercial officer Ian Malin later said the A321XLR did not fit the group's business model post-Abu Dhabi base closure, after converting 36 A321XLR orders to A321neo.2
