WestJet close to forming partnership with US carrier

WestJet CEO Gregg Saretsky announced the carrier is close to forming a partnership with a US carrier but declined to name which carrier (ctv.ca, 01-Jun-2010). Southwest Airlines had called off cooperation with WestJet on 18-Apr-2010 following rumours WestJet was in discussions with Delta Air Lines.

WestJet: "Codeshare and interline is a way of bringing offshore traffic into the mix so that it can help drive the type of schedule parity that will be important to closing the gap on frequent guests that are travelling for business. In the United States we have negotiations ongoing for a partner, but we are just on the verge of being able to announce something there." Gregg Saretsky, CEO of WestJet. Source: ctv.ca, 01-Jun-2010.
