WACO: air cargo sector shows signs of improvement

World Air Cargo Organisation (WACO) reported positive growth in the US 3Q2009 output and the faster recovery of trade in Asia are signalling recovery in the air cargo sector (Malaysia Business Times, 03-Nov-2009). Air freight is generally a valuable forward indicator of economic activity, although recent run-downs of inventory may confuse the picture.

WACO: "The crisis-hit airfreight industry, which saw cargo volume dropping between 25% and 35%, is expected to resume its 6% p/a growth, in line with the economic recovery" Malaysian Transport Minister, Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat. Source: Malaysia Business Times, 03-Nov-2009.
