Vilnius Airport expects to close 2012 with profits, reports record rolling 12 month pax in Sep-2012

Lithuania's Vilnius Airport expects (08-Oct-2012) to close 2012 with a profit as passenger numbers on a rolling 12 month basis to 30-Sep-2012 increased 42.0% year-on-year to a record 2.1 million. Vilnius Airport director general Tomas Vaišvila attributed the growth to success of traditional carriers and the growing demand for LCCs. According to the airport, Ryanair and Wizz Air each hold an 18% market share at the airport followed by Small Planet Airlines, Lufthansa and airBaltic, at 9% each. Scandinavian Airlines holds a 6% share. The most popular destinations from Vilnius were Germany, UK, Latvia, Italy, Denmark, Ireland, Russia, Spain and Turkey. [more - original PR]
